The following lessons were developed by pre-service teachers from Cal Poly Pomona as part of a post-expedition course entitled Bringing Field Research into the Classroom (CHM and BIO 400), which is offered in the spring quarter immediately following the Spaceward Bound field experience.
This course tasks each student with both the development of a standards-based lesson plan, based upon Spaceward Bound, and presentation of the lesson plan in a local K12 classroom.
Posted below are the final course assignments, which comprise the lesson plans and materials associated with the teaching component.
In an effort to promote the inclusion of astrobiology into the classroom, we encourage the use or adaptation of these lessons and materials. Accordingly, we ask that the respective student authors and Spaceward Bound Director be referenced in any related work.
